Emotions and Stress and how we handle them play a HUGE role in gut health. I posted on Instagram about using Emotional Freedom Tapping (EFT) to quiet the overeating monster. It led me to want to share with you the importance of giving a voice to all our parts. When we give our parts a voice we don't end up like the lady in this video! Try sensing into when you feel uneasy and tempted to go rouge on some food. Allow yourself to use this acronym: PAL (Pause, Acknowledge, and Listen). When we pause we stop the perpetual habit. We then can acknowledge with "Something in me feels _____" and over a listening ear by inquiring:

  • What does this part of me need or want?

  • Why is it protecting me in this way? What am I really needing right now?

  • Is there something I else can do to get that need met?

I tend to front load the emotional work with my clients realizing how important it is. If you go to a nutritionist or doctor who puts you on a special diet and don't address the emotions, I know first hand the true healing won't happen. I have been there!
